Description
The Lora Contorno Benevolent Fund (Lora’s Fund) provides subsidized care to its residents who need financial assistance as their circumstances change or their quality of life extends their life beyond their resources, allowing them to remain in the warm, loving community they call home for as long as possible. Annually, this program requires over $400,000 in funding, and we rely on the generosity of our donors, friends and the community for support of this cause.
Lora Contorno: In 2006, Lora Contorno began her ministry of working with the residents as a Resident Support Facilitator of Peace Village. Her passion for working with seniors was carried out in everything she did. Each day she would seek out those who needed an extra kind word or smile and always prioritized the needs of the residents. This was especially true of those who had run into difficult circumstances and were in financial need. Lora always encouraged residents in this situation to feel good about accepting financial assistance from the Benevolent Fund because it plays a key role in carrying Peace Village’s mission.
Lora’s ministry at Peace Village was cut short when she lost her battle with cancer in April 2017. During her 10-year tenure at Peace Village, Lora made an enormous impact on many employees, residents and their families. Peace Village is honored to rename its Benevolent Fund to the Lora Contorno Benevolent Fund (Lora’s Fund) to create a legacy for a special woman who had a great passion for helping others in need.
Please join us as we carry on the special work that Lora dedicated so much of her life to by participating in the first annual Lora's Fund Walk and Run 5k! Each runner will be contributing to the fund upon signup and they will also receive a special T-shirt!
