NoStigmas In person AND Virtual 4 Mile Run for Mental Health

May is Mental Health Awareness Month! Join NoStigmas on May 4th and challenge yourself with a run (or walk or roll) in the name of MENTAL HEALTH!

This is not another average run - it's a chance to participate in a nationwide movement to end mental health stigma. Join people from across the country by completing 4 miles on May 4th 2024, wherever, and however you want. You can join in with us if you're in the Chicagoland area at PlantX Market. We'll be running from their fine venue, two miles down the Lakeshore Path, then back for a fun way to spend the morning. OR you can join us virtually, anywhere in the United States and complete the task on your own time that day! You can also choose to take a walk with your family, bike it with a group of friends, or even knock it out on the treadmill! So run, walk, swim, skip, or roll your way to 4 miles, share your progress, and help us spread awareness to put an end to mental health stigma. MAY THE 4TH BE WITH US ALL!

The mission of NoStigmas is to build a network of inspired individuals with a common goal of eliminating mental health stigma. This event presents an opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to connect on a local and national level in a united effort to end negative stigma. The goal is to spread awareness about the prevalence of mental illness and the presence of stigma in our society. By participating, you’ll be joining a cause dedicated to advocating for individuals with mental illness and creating a world with #NoStigmas. 

*All proceeds help fund our efforts for advocate training, host online and in person peer support networks, engage in underrepresented communities, and ultimately, help find an end to mental health stigma for all.*

Is this a competitive race?

No. This is a friendly group run. It is a chance to meet, run together, and support local businesses while promoting mental health equality and breaking down stigmas surrounding mental health.

Why PlantX?

Because we LOVE their establishment and it gives attendees a safe place to come together to support one another. It also gives us the opportunity to support local businesses, grab coffee and food after, and get to know vendors at their Vendor Pop-Up Event!

What is a virtual 4 mile run?

 A virtual run is different because it is more flexible and adaptable for participants EVERYWHERE. It does not have a specific location, route, or start time. It allows participants to start on their schedule, at their pace, and wherever they prefer. Virtual runs can be done outside, inside, or even at home, making them ideal for unpredictable weather conditions. While participants are encouraged to do their best, virtual runs are not a race against the clock or other participants. Individuals and groups can participate through any kind of movement, such as running, biking, rolling, or swimming.


Okay, that’s cool, but how does it work?

It’s fairly simple - complete the 4 miles, however and wherever you want, at any time on Saturday May 4th.

I don’t think I can do anything physical, but how else can I contribute? 

 There are plenty of ways to engage!

-Grab some pom-poms and cheer on your friends who are participating!
-Provide water or energizing snacks                                                                                                                                                                                                          -Host a party to celebrate those who complete the challenge
-Spread the word! Share your pictures and posts through social media
-Share your story and open up the conversation to discuss mental health
