Who: Derek Hunsinger was diagnosed with testicular cancer on 3/29/2013 with surgery following the 30th of March. He is married to Lindsey and they have 3 amazing children, Heidi -5, Korben -  3, and Bri - 2.

What: A 5k fun run/walk. Not timed, No prizes. But health and fitness is something we hold near and dear to our family, so what better way to share that with the community who has shown our family so much support than hosting a 5k?

Where: El Paso Highschool parking lot

When: 8am - registration checkoff and t-shirt pick up

8:30am - Recognition speech, Thank yous, and Warm-up

9am - Race Start time

9am-11:30am - There will be baskets to bid on, and general socializing while people run / walk

Why: Due to the seriousness of this illness and the sudden impact on our family, we are learning to re-adjust to our new "normal" and the support from this community, family, and friends has been amazing helping us with this transition! We want to help spread the word that cancer doesn't discriminate, to be aware, self-check, and contact your doctor immediately with any concerns.

 ITEMS of note: Pets are welcome to join participants, they will be your responsibility to keep them on a leash.

Children under 13 are welcome to walk with families/participants for free (they would not receive a free t-shirt) Strollers are also welcome.

 

The course will be started at the higschool parking lot and going North up the bike/walking path, crossing over 1100 N, and returning the same way back to the highschool.
