Description

Introducing River to River Runners Club “Spring Clean Race Series”.  Last year was really tough on the club financially. We’ve had to cut back on some things ad ook for new ways to generate revenue. So the idea for the Spring Clean Series is basically a fund raiser for the club. Instead of Ribs or Candy bars we are selling you a race series. 😉  Our club is an affiliate member of the RRCA. Through the RRCA, we are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. We try to provide great races for the amazing community of runners we have. The Spring Clean Race Series  is going to be a blast.

Over the years the club’s storage unit has accumulated a large amount of extra shirts, awards, and miscellaneous other things. So this spring we are going to clean out our storage unit and repurpose these items as Swag for a race series. Three 4.1 mile races highlighting different areas of Southern Illinois. Each race will have a $20 entry fee and runners will be able to accumulate points toward a series total. Points will be earned by overall finish or age group finish. If you can’t race the whole series that’s okay too. You can sign up for one or two races. There will be multi race discount at registration.

The first race is “Broken Arrow” 4.14 miles. This race is two loops around Arrowhead Lake in Johnston City. April 24th at 8 AM.

Race #2 is “Fever at the Ferne” 4.16667 Miles. This is a single loop race at Ferne Clyffe State Park that will include trail and road running. And steep hills. Rocks and tree root. Also lots of fun!!!! May 22 at 8 AM.

Race #3 is “Rend Lake Rampage” 4.11 miles. This is an out and back course on the paved Bike Trail at Rend Lake. The race will start at Shelter #6 in the Dam West Day Use area at Rend Lake. This is close to the Visitors Center on the south end of the lake by the Dam. June 26th at 7 AM.

POINTS:

One thing that’s going to make this series fun is that you will earn points for each race. Similar to the River to River Runner's championship series except there will be age group points as well.

Overall Points. Like the championship series will start at 100 for first place and decrease by 5 for each place. With the minimum points being 5.

Age Group Points: Age groups will be 5 year groups. 1st in an age group will get 25 points. That will decrease five points for each place. 6th place and below will get 1 age group point.

For each race a runner will get overall points and age group points. Look at it like two separate categories though. You don’t add them together. For example, First place overall will get 100 overall points and will get the 25 age group points.

At the end of the series you will be able to see where you ranked overall, and where you ranked in your age group.

We will have some extra awards for series placement too. If you place in the top three overall, you will be removed from the age group category
