Lace up and run where history still echoes. The 6.6K Run at Old Joliet Prison takes you through one of Illinois’ most iconic landmarks, blending gritty prison history with the spirit of Route 66. This uniquely distanced race celebrates the legendary “double six” with an unforgettable course, bold atmosphere, and a setting unlike any other. Whether you’re chasing a PR or just soaking in the scenery, this run is all about grit, nostalgia, and crossing the finish line with a story to tell.

Updated: This race is strictly virtual. Events at the prison have grown and will take up more space than anticipated.

Packet pickup will be held for participants who registered by April 8 on Sunday, May 3, from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM. Participants will receive free admission to the prison that day.  For those who registered after that date, you may also come to the Prison on Sunday.  Your swag bag will have all things included, except your shirt.  Those will either be mailed or available for pickup at the Giant Summer Run in Wilmington.

Activities happening that day include music, food, drinks, and recreational softball. Anyone is welcome to join the softball game!
