Honor and remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice, America’s heroes who courageously gave their lives defending our country’s safety and freedom. This community-wide expression of respect and gratitude for our veterans is designed to be a combination of individual efforts.
How it Works:
After all walk and run efforts are submitted, the total community time and distance travelled in remembrance will be tallied and shared with participants via email and the community via social media on June 7.
Honor Walk and Run of Remembrance participants will receive this custom, 2" diameter pin as a way to commemorate this community-wide celebration of Memorial Day.
Prior to the virtual event week, participants will be invited to submit the name of the individual or individuals for whom they are walking/running in honor and memory.
The Honor Walk and Run of Remembrance provide individuals with an opportunity to contribute to a community-wide effort. After registering, participants set a distance or time goal for your individual Honor Walk or Run of Remembrance. After completing the run or walk, all participants will be asked to enter the distance and/or length of time for their individual effort. After Memorial Day, everyone's individual efforts will be combined and the total distance and time recorded for the Honor Walk and Run of Remembrance will be shared via social media and emails to participants.
Please note: There is no official course for the virtual event. Participants determine how to complete the walk or run on their own, at a location of their own choosing at their own risk. Course suggestions will not be posted and the services typically available during an in-person race are not available for the virtual event.
