Description
Pull out your running shoes because SRRC's (formerly Easter Seals) annual 5K Run/Walk for the Kids will kick off during Ottawa’s Riverfest festivities(www.ottawariverfest.org), Saturday, Aug. 5.
The 5K Run/Walk for the Kids starts and ends at Ottawa Township High School, 211 East Main St., Ottawa. Check in and race day registration begins at 6:30 a.m., runners start at 8:00 a.m. The run/walk follows a USA Track and Field certified course, winding through the historic east side of Ottawa including the scenic Illinois and Michigan Canal passage. Ninety-nine percent of all money raised at this event remains local, helping local children to achieve their maximum potential.
Children and strollers are welcome to participate in the 5K for free with paying participants, but t-shirts will only be given to those who register for the 5K or Kids Race.
Runners will be timed and the top overall female and male runners will receive trophies. Also, runners placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd in thirteen different age categories will receive medals.
There will be a kids race immediately following the 5K for children up to 12 years old. All participants will receive a t-shirt and medal.
Threatening Weather Conditions
The 5K Run/Walk for the Kids may be canceled or delayed if if the race director determines there is incliment weather. No refunds will be provided, since funds were already spent in preparation for race day.
