Description
Like so many other events this year, the Golden Futures is going virtual in 2020. We won't let a pandemic stop us from supporting scholarships or from getting out and running or walking!
Here's how it will work this year:
- Register for the event (cost is $20 across the board this year)
- Pick up your event shirt the week of 9/28-10/2
- Take a run or a walk anywhere, anytime between 10/3 and 10/31
- Take a photo of yourself or your group in your event shirt doing your run or walk and share on social media using #GoldenFutures5K
- If you choose to run a 5K, come back here to submit your official time (optional)
In our first five years of this event we have raised close to $18,000 in scholarships for students in need. We hope you will consider supporting the event and the scholarship again this year even though we can't run together like we normally would. We look forward to seeing you all back for the event in 2021!
Course
Although we are going virtual this year and you can do your walk or run from anywhere, we would still love to have you come to our beautiful campus for your walk or run. All we ask is that you please stick to the community walking/bike path and stay off of roadways and campus sidewalks.
T-shirt Pick-up
You can pick up your event t-shirt from the RVC Foundation office during normal business hours (8am-5pm) the week of September 28 - October 2, 2020.
The Foundation office is located at the Spring Brook House on Rock Valley College's main campus and the physical address for the building is 6520 Spring Brook Road. Park in the front or back lot and enter the Foundation office at the rear of the building.
Submit Your Time
For 5K participants only, come back after your run and log your time for a chance to qualify for an award (see award section below for details).
You have from 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 3 to 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, October 31 to submit results.
Awards
In this year's virtual environment, we will award prizes to the top three overall male finishers and the top three overall female finishers. Winners will receive an RVC merchandise prize pack.

Rockford Road Runners
The Rock Valley College Golden Futures 5K is part of the Rockford Road Runners 2020 race circuit. Due to the unusual conditions this year, RRR members will receive 5 circuit points for each virtual race entered.
Please review the 2020 RRR circuit rules as special conditions apply this year.
