In compliance with social distancing measures related to the spread of COVID-19, we are making the several changes to 2020 Abe's Army. In short, the training program will begin as a Virtual Program, and transitioning to group runs when stay at home orders are lifted. The training no longer includes Abe's Amble registration, you will register for that separately. As such, registration has been reduced to $20. (Still must register for SRRC membership if you are not a member.)
If you registered for Abe's Army at the full price, you have the following two options. Please make your choice by April 30th. If no choice is made, you will be defaulted to Option 1.
Option 1: Remain in the new program. Receive a $40 refund.
Option 2: Withdraw from Abe's Army altogether, receive a $60 refund.

**Exciting news for 2020 is the return of the Abe's Army 5K program and Abe's Amble 5K!!**
Abe's Army 5K - this is a 10-week program designed for newer runners and walkers wanting to get active and complete Abe's Amble 5K road race held on the final day of the Illinois State Fair in August. Training begins 6/1/20.
Abe's Army 10K - this is a 12-week program designed to train new and experienced runners and walkers to complete Abe's Amble 10K road race. Training begins 5/18/20.
Since we are starting our program virtually, we will not be separating people based on paces. We will have everyone join a Facebook group that is for paid registrants and leaders only. Mass emails will be sent out as well, but to get the most social engagement for virtual Abe's Army you are encouraged to use Facebook. We plan to make this program as fun and motivating as possible from a distance.
We welcome runners and walkers of all abilities. Children under the age of 16 are welcome to join; however, they must be under the direct supervision of a parent/guardian. Please consult your family physician before undertaking any new exercise routine.
There will be no orientation meeting, all communication will be held via email/Facebook.
Abe's Army Registration Fee includes:
Abe's Army training sessions will be held on Monday evenings at 5:45 p.m. starting May 18, 2020 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds at the Commodities/Pork Pavilion across from the Grandstand. After that, your leader will instruct you to meet at the fairgrounds or Lincoln Park Shelter #7 (near the Nelson Center parking lot).
Parking is available in the fairgrounds in Lot #21, enter Gate 7 or Gate 11
