Frequently Asked Questions

1- What is the inspiration behind Color me Holi Run?

Holi is a popular Indian festival celebrated across the globe, also known as the Festival of Colors. It celebrates the triumph of good over evil and the changing of the seasons from winter to spring. It is remarkably different from any other celebration as it involves color play with mesmerizing hues of vibrant colors! Even though the original festival involves water play also, we are sticking to non toxic dry color. We are integrating the enthusiasm and care free vibe of Holi with a 5K run!

2- Is this run being organized to benefit a charity?

Yes. This year we are supporting the Springfield chapter of ‘Share the Spirit foundation, Inc.’. They are a volunteer based 501(c)3 non-profit established in 2003 with a mission to provide new shoes and socks to underserved children. Co-founded by Tonya Voepel of Springfiled, Share the spirit Inc. has provided 20,414 pair of new shoes to children in need since it’s inception. Net proceeds from Color Me Holi will be used in the Springfield area. To learn more about this organization please click -

Colors used at Color me Holi event are made with high quality cornstarch, food dyes and baking soda. All materials are 100% FD&C and/or D&C approved.  These color powders contains natural fire retardant materials that dramatically reduce fire risk.  However, cornstarch in a dust state can be flammable under certain conditions.  Out of an abundance of caution do not use near open flame, smoking materials or other ignition sources.  If you would like a copy of the Safety Data Sheets please contact the vendor at 888-252-6567 or email at

2- Does the color powder contain Gluten or other common allergens?

3- Is the color powder harmful if I inhale it by accident?

All colors used at Color me Holi event are food grade, but we do not recommend inhaling large quantities of color powder. It should always be used in well ventilated outdoor space and when throwing at participants you should aim for the chest area.

Anyone who has asthma, is allergic to any of the ingredients or has any respiratory issues should exercise caution when participating in color powder events.

4- Will the color permanently stain my clothes or shoes?

Color used at Color me Holi event washes out of most clothing. However, it can stain some materials. 100% cotton clothing is recommended and typical machine washing with stain remover, removes the stains. We recommend removing excess powder from clothing before washing and/or applying water. It’s best to wear items of clothing and footwear that you wouldn’t mind getting colorful.
