Get Your Engines (and Legs) Revved Up!
Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of historic Route 66 by hitting the pavement at the 5th Annual Route 66 Mother Road 5K Foot Race on Sunday, September 27, 2026 in downtown Springfield. Packet pickup and start line is on the northeast corner of Old State Capitol Plaza.
This isn’t just a race—it’s an experience. You’ll run the streets alongside the iconic classic cars of the International Route 66 Mother Road Festival, soaking in the sights, sounds, and nostalgia of America’s most famous highway.
All participants earn cool Route 66–themed swag, including a finisher medal, event T-shirt, and more.
- Packet Pickup: Race morning, 6:30–7:20 AM
- Start Time: 7:30 AM
- 5K Course: 3 loops
- 1-Mile Course: 1 loop
We’re proud to partner with the producers of the International Route 66 Mother Road Festival (September 25–27) to bring this signature race to the heart of the celebration.
Awards will be presented to the top overall male and female finishers, along with top finishers in five-year age brackets.

The route is 3 loops around the restricted streets of the Mother Road Festival. We'll post the route map as soon as it is finalized. We are planning a new route for 2026. Each loop is approximately 1.035 miles.
