Description
Every spring, the UIUC Chapter of the Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children (FIMRC) holds the Miles for Medicine 5K to raise money for FIMRC clinics around the world. This year, the UIUC Chapter plans on raising money to help support Project Bududa in Uganda. The money we raise will help pay for HIV testing kits for families in Uganda.
HIV Testing in Uganda: Since moving to the new facility we’ve experienced a more than doubling in testing for HIV. Each Monday, which are market days, we do an average of 60 tests. And we’re expecting that number to continue to rise as we expand our services related to maternal care and test each and every mother for HIV. We’ll also be promoting spouses to come in for testing together to ensure the best possible care for families. Increased numbers of HIV tests are constraining our ability to expand testing to other important areas such as typhoid and TB. With your help we can purchase HIV tests to expand other services. Every test counts in the fight against HIV/AIDS!
