We have received several questions on the impact of today's Region 5 COVID mitigation announcement on our race. This image is from the State of Illinois Coronavirus response website which outlines the mitigation tiers and the mitigation actions associated with each tier. Full information can be found at the state website listed in the image. We are in tier 1 of the mitigation plan which has no impact on our event at this time. Our event guidelines were already established in accordance with the IDPH All Sports Guidelines published on August 15th. With that said we encourage everyone to take measures to remain safe and healthy during these times. If you are registered but have changed your mind about running please contact us as soon as possible for deferral or virtual options.
We received enough deferrals to get us under the 100 participant cap, thus avoiding a lottery! If you are still registered and would like to defer, please send us a email. Not only did we get under the cap but we have a very limited number of spots that have opened up due to deferrals. We will start taking people off the wait list tonight! So if you are towards the top of the wait list, watch your email and check the spam folders. Once selected from the wait list you will get a automated email from RunSignUp with a link to complete your registration. You must complete your registration within 2 days of being selected or the spot will go to the next person on the wait list.
The 2020 Tunnel Hill 10 Miler is ON! We received our permit from the state but unfortunately with the COVID restrictions in Illinois our event is capped at 100 people. Things will look a bit different but given the fate of most events this year, we are happy to be racing on November 7th.
We had more than 100 participants registered for this year’s event prior to registration being suspended at the onset of the pandemic. To get down to the 100 spots we will take deferrals until 10-5. If we don’t get to the 100 cap with deferrals, a lottery will be held on 10-10 to determine the 100 participants. The lottery picks will come from all remaining pre-covid registrations after deferrals. In the case that a registered participant is not selected for this year’s event via the lottery, they will be put atop the current wait list in case more spots open up after the lottery. If you registered pre-COVID and didn’t get a email from me on 9-30 please contact me ASAP for more details.
I feel we will get under the 100 cap with deferrals and will avoid a lottery. If we get under the 100 cap we will start taking entries off of the wait list on 10-10 to fill the event. If you are high up on the wait list keep an eye out for the invite from RunSignUp on or after 10-10. You will have 2 days once invited to accept the entry and complete your registration on our RunSignUp page. After that we will move on down the list. Right now the wait list is long, but you can’t get in if you don’t try so join the wait list as soon as possible.
Virtual. Did someone say virtual? Yes we will have a virtual option this year! Whether you don’t feel comfortable at in person event or you didn’t make it in off the wait list, you can still participate this year with the Virtual Tunnel Hill 10 Miler. More details on our virtual event and our race day COVID guidelines/restrictions for the in-person event will be published in the coming days. Stay Tuned.
