Description

When The March for Movement Virtual race was created in 2020, it began as a way to bring everyone together and bring attention to the tragic events that took place that summer that launched countrywide protests for the Black Lives Matter Movement. Many were overwhelmed and outraged by the senseless murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Botham Shem Jean and countless others. These tragedies bring to the forefront the fears and injustices that Black Americans have faced every day for generations. As the years have gone by, we have seen some victories but continue to see Black lives senselessly lost in the United States.

Black Americans have long suffered injustices in the United States such as slavery, Jim Crow laws, gentrification, war on drugs, housing discrimination and police brutality to name a few and it is high time we see some actionable change for the black community. This virtual race continues to be a way do something actionable to help Black Americans and I, as a Black woman am committed to creating a fun event that gets us all up and moving while also supporting organizations that are dedicated to influencing institutional change for the Black community. This event brings together several awesome organizations that are making a huge impact to support the Black Lives Matter movement by narrowing the economic gap between races, holding police across the nation accountable for their actions, and supporting those who are protesting for change.
