On October 22 at Metea Park in Leo, Epic Racing Events in partnership with the Epic Run Club and Fox Island County Park, will hold a benefit trail run to raise funds for the damage that was caused to Fox Island Park as part of the Derecho storm back on the evening of June 13th. Fox Island seemed to be at the epicenter of the storm and the park suffered substantial damage. Due to the amount of damage sustained that evening, the park is permanently closed until 2023 with clean up efforts ongoing. Pictures are often worth a thousand words and I encourage you to visit the Fox Island Park Facebook page to see the extent of damage and cleanup needed. With the park losing well over 1000 trees it will take years to rebuild the park to it previous conditions. We are planning to have a benefit trail 5K to raise funds for Fox Island Park. All proceeds will go to benefit the clean up and restoration efforts at Fox Island Park. Please note this race will be a fun run/walk with no timing provided but the course and distance will be marked and shirts are available for an additional fee.
