The Parade 5,000 race runs the Elkhart County Fair Parade route with thousands of spectators. Temperatures are usually very warm. Be sure to hydrate the day before and morning of the race if hot temperatures are forecast. We recommend that all competitors have trained prior to this run and are able to complete the 5K in 50 minutes or less. The Parade will follow the last runner on the route, which is why we need competitors to finish in a timely manor. Respectfully, this event is not intended for casual walkers or anyone that will have difficulty finishing the course. Running with strollers is acceptable, but please no pets. Costumes are also always fun to see!
*Admission is free all day to everyone on Sunday at the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds!
Race shirts are given to the first 300 entrants. Medals will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each age group. Overall male & female winners will receive a new pair of shoes compliments of "Woldruff's Footwear" in downtown Goshen. Age groups are as follow: (male & female separate) under 12, 13-15, 16-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, over 60.
*All participants must pick up their registration information from the fairgrounds prior to competing in the race. We do NOT have race-day registration on the day of this event, so please plan ahead! All registrations are to be done online by 8:00 pm, July 20th through this site. Check-in will begin at 11:00 am and will end at 12:30 pm SHARP. Race numbers (with chip sensors) will be available for pick-up during these times at the Corporate Picnic Tents located on the northeast end of the fairgrounds, directly north of the race track (near gate 5). All registered runners will be bused to the starting line at Rogers Park by Cardinal Buses. Those without the current issued Parade 5,000 race number will not be allowed to use the transportation provided, nor run in the race. The race itself begins approximately at 1:20 or whenever the race route can be completely cleared.
Two water stations are available during the route, as well as ice towels at the finish line supplied by CINTAS Rental Service.
Door prizes to be drawn at random for those who sign up post-race using your issued race number.
Sponsors: Woldruff's Footwear (New Balance), Penguin Point, Chippewa Spring Water, Cardinal Buses, Cintas Uniform Rentals, Maple City Dispensing, BOYD Corporation & INTransport Company.
*A youth mile fun run may take place on the horse track before the finish of the Parade 5,000 race, but is separate from this event. Those interested should visit 4hfair.org & "Competition Events" for more information.
*Bandits will not be tolerated! -in the last few races we have had many cases where runners did not officially enter the race and even used fake race numbers to join those that paid to participate. This is not fair to all of our runners that paid like expected and we want to keep our race price consistent for years to come. For that reason, please bear with us and support us in eliminating those who cheat in road races. We will be taking extra measures to remove those individuals to support our honest and serious runners. Those not wearing our official race number will be removed from the race at the starting line and will not be allowed to take up spots on our transportation services. Please plan to register on this site before the deadline if you want to participate. No registrations will be accepted after the Saturday evening deadline before the race. We sincerely appreciate all of you that have properly supported this race over the years or for the very first time!
