Event Description

This is the 6th Annual Rebecca's Run. This run will donate ALL of the money to a non-profit organization.

THIS IS A VIRTUAL RACE. YOU CAN RUN IT ANYTIME WITHIN THE TIME FRAME GIVEN AND AT ANY LOCATION.

Time frame for race: Sept 4 - Sept 7

5 K race for adults

5 K race for kids (at this point Owen and ALL of his friends can beat me in a 5k...)

1st and 2nd place overall will get prizes.

1st place for kids will get a prize.

We do this run to not only remember Rebecca Taylor, but to also remember ALL of the lives lost to fentanyl overdose/death.

As many of you know, Becca suffered from addiction for many years. Thankfully she became clean in the fall of 2019 and we spent some of our best months together. We will always have those happy memories.

According to the Department of Health, "fentanyl was involved in 90% of all deaths involving opioids. Fentanyl is a highly potent synthetic opioid. A dose as small as three grains of rice can be lethal. Fentanyl is becoming more common in illicit drugs, even laced in other drugs like cocaine or methamphetamine."

Provisional data from CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics indicate there were an estimated 107,622 drug overdose deaths in the United States during 2021, an increase of nearly 15% from the 93,655 deaths estimated in 2020.

DRUG TYPE -- Synthetic Opioids (Fentanyl)
(DEATHS 2021) -- 71, 238
(DEATHS 2020) -- 57,834

Our goal is to help people in addiction, people in recovery, and family members of those in addiction. To do this we will continue to raise money in Rebecca Taylor's name and donate it to different organizations.

Below is a website aimed to help prevent opioid overdose:

This year we will be donating ALL of the money to: Ryan's Place. According to their website, "The mission of Ryan’s Place is to provide support in a safe environment where grieving children, teens and their families can share their experience as they move through the healing process. Ryan’s Place is dedicated to all children who grieve."

Ryan's Place vision believes that no child or family should grieve the death of a loved one alone.

Ryan's Place has been around for 25 years and has helped more than 21,000 people grief. They just opened a brand new facility a little over a year ago.

To learn more about Ryan's Place please look over this website: https://ryansplace.org/about/

Ryan's Place is located at 118 S. Main Street, Ste. 3 Goshen, Indiana 46526

I wish when Becca passed away, I knew about an organization like Ryan's Place. I know that would have helped my grieving process and help me connect to others who have experienced a similar tragedy.

You can either sign up to run/walk the 5K race OR you can just donate on this page OR give money directly to Shawn Taylor or Rachel Voelkel. When you give money directly, there is no fee taken out. You can also write a check directly to "Ryan's Place" and in the memo space provided write "Rebecca's Run." Please mail all checks to Shawn Taylor or Rachel Voelkel.

ALL of the money donated by you, gets donated to the charity stated.

Thank you EVERYONE for your continued thoughts, help, donations, and just talking about Rebecca and keeping her memory alive.

I miss Becca EVERY SINGLE DAY. I hope she is proud of the work being done in her name.
