Join us for the inaugural "Step Into Recovery" 3k Walkathon, an event that promotes National Recovery Month and supports our sober living organization in Northwest Indiana. This September, let's walk together to raise awareness about addiction recovery and break down the stigma surrounding it.  In Northwest Indiana, the number of sober living homes is limited for people in need of a safe place to live while rebuilding their lives.

The opioid epidemic has devastated communities throughout the United States, and Northwest Indiana has not been spared. Presently, there are five sober living options for women and six for men in the area, yet the demand for these services dramatically outstrips the available supply. Recovery homes, treatment centers, and detox programs have exceedingly long waitlists, leaving numerous individuals battling addiction without the necessary safe and supportive setting to commence their path to recovery. In response to this urgent need, our organization is dedicated to repurposing a renovated church to provide additional women with a chance to reconstruct their lives in a secure, substance-free environment.

The necessity of increasing access to sober living facilities is critical. Addiction encompasses more than just opioid misuse; it's imperative to acknowledge the extensive impact of substance use disorders.

You are making a difference by participating in the "Step Into Recovery" Walkathon. Your support will help us provide essential resources and services to those seeking a life free from addiction. Let's show our community that recovery is possible and available to all.

On the morning of Saturday, May 11, 2024, runners and walkers will come together to walk/run the beautiful trails of Wicker Park in Highland, Indiana.  All funds raised will support Gatehouse Recovery Home, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to opening the doors to people leaving treatment centers, criminal justice systems, and unsafe environments to rebuild their lives. Our mission is to raise awareness in the region, provide prevention education, and ensure sober living is possible in Lake County, Indiana. All donations are tax-deductible, as allowable by law.  Learn more about Gatehouse Hammond, Inc. (known as Gatehouse Recovery for Women) by visiting us at https://thegatehousehammond.org/.
