Description
The Welcome Network is excited to announce the 3rd Annual Run for Refugees 5k Run/Walk fundraiser. This purpose of this race is to spread awareness and advocate for refugees. 100% of funds raised will go to supporting refugees and asylum seekers in Northwest Indiana as settle into their new homes.
The race begins at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 25th, 2019 in beautiful Wicker Memorial Park in Highland, IN. The walkers will begin at approximately 10:00 AM and the runners wave will begin at approximately 10:15 AM. The early bird entry fee of $30.00 has been extended until race day! Race is free for children 10 and under (you can email us at isabel@thewelcomenet.org to purchase a shirt for children for $12) and proceeds will be designated to assisting refugees/asylees settled into Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland. Race entry includes a race t-shirt. *Finishers Medals* will be presented to Top 6 (3M/3F) runners. Come join us and help spread awareness regarding victims of war, violence and persecution throughout the world!
There will also be a raffle, one ticket will be given per donation. Raffle prizes include Starbucks gift basket, complimentary hotel stays, Comfort Roast coffee gift basket, and more.
Race day packet pickup begins at 9:30 AM at Shelter #1 at Wicker Memorial Park in Highland, IN.
The Welcome Network is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that exists to caringly provide practical resources, spiritual mentoring, and real community to immigrants and refugees of Northwest Indiana and South Chicagoland.
