Description

~ REGISTRATION UPDATE (May 21, 2024) ~

Registration for this year's event SOLD OUT on May 20th; yes almost two months prior to the event!  The capacity was met for SOLO runners and TEAMS making 2024 the earliest to date.  Because many of the 'veterans' of the event wasn't yet registered, we have made the following extensions:

  • SOLO: we have opened the field and extending registration to midnight, June 15th.  We are not capping it; simply placing a hard deadline.  The field size will be determined on the 15th at midnight.  June 1st is the deadline for SOLO's who get their name on the bib.
  • OPEN TEAMS:  Officially sold out with no extension
  • RC Cup Teams: deadline extended to midnight, June 15th
  • FC Cup Teams: deadline extended to midnight, June 15th

Thank you for the interest and for joining us!

The 8-Hour Dream Endurance Race is a fixed duration event; you have eight hours to run, walk, or stroll as far as you can. It is the largest endurance running event in Central Indiana and has experienced records each year. The Dream has SOLD OUT three years in a row primarily because our returning runner percentage is so high. Spending a day on Butler's campus at what feels like a running tailgate, while testing your limits, is truly an unforgettable experience.

Throughout the day, participants choose between the long course (5K) or the short course (1.91miles) for strategy, shade or to achieve the accurate distance they are shooting for. Both courses take you up and over the now famous Bulldog's Revenge hill. There are three ways to participate: the SOLO category, TEAM category or the Cat Nap 5K. The Team category offers three divisions (female, male and coed) and two team sizes (3-4 or 5-6 members). The Cat Nap 5K starts at the same time as The Dream offering family and friends the opportunity to run the first loop with SOLO runners.

NEW FOR 2024, the FC Cup Team Competition.  The "FC" in the FC Cup stands for "fitness clubs".  This new division was developed for the OrangeTheory, F45, Eat the Frog, YMCA, CrossFit, etc. group fitness clubs that are using group fitness plans to keep people active.  FC Cup teams will be 3-4 person co-ed only and must contain 2 male and female participants.  Fitness Clubs can enter as many teams as they want (think OrangeTheory#1 and OrangeTheory #2).

What makes The Dream unique is the start time (10 AM) the location (outside of the historic Hinkle Fieldhouse on Butler University's campus) and the closing ceremonies and post-race party. The post-race party features a beer garden, a live band, and complimentary food!
