Earth Day Indiana Recycle Run 5K and 1 Mile Walk

NEWS FOR PARTICIPANTS - There will not be a packet pick-up before the day of the event. Check-in to obtain your bib, chip, and T-shirt will begin at 10:00am at the Art Center within Garfield Park (near the middle of the park). The 5K and 1-mile walk will start promptly at noon. 

Run or walk a 5K (3.11 miles) along a scenic Indianapolis pedestrian trail! The 6th annual Recycle Run 5K begins (at noon) and finishes at the Garfield Park Art Center. The route will take you north out of Garfield Park on the Pleasant Run Trail. Along the trail you will venture under the Indianapolis Belt Railroad tracks (dating from the 1870's and the original "belt" around Indy), then under I65, leading up to Spruce Street where you will begin your route back on the same trail.

A 1-mile walk is also available. Before and after your walk/run enjoy the free Earth Day Indiana Festival also taking place in Garfield Park.

We've reduced our waste stream as much as possible by using recycled items needed for the race. We will have a recycling dumpster for plastic water bottles; T-shirts are new ones that are left over from a previous Earth Day Indiana 5K or Festival; bibs are ones left over from previous 5Ks; and participants will receive a recycled (unused) commemorative medal from a previous 5K event  

You are encouraged to bring your own reusable water bottle as water availability may be limited to reduce waste. This is the 32nd year for the Earth Day Indiana Festival and the 6th year of the Recycle Run 5K Run/Walk. Free parking is available at surface lots within Garfield Park and on surrounding neighborhood streets.
