Description
Freewheelin’ Community Bikes will host its signature event, Nancy’s Ride on Saturday, September 21, 2024 in the heart of Mapleton Fall Creek neighborhood at 34th and Central Avenue. All ride proceeds will benefit Freewheelin’ Community Bikes, a 501(c)3 youth development organization that connects youth with skills for life over a shared passion for the bicycle.
You can support our mission even more this year by registering/donating (or volunteering!) to help us reach our match goal $10,000. (This would not be possible if it weren't for one of our benevolent donors!) For example:
- $50.00 - Buys a Helmet for an Earn-A-Bike Kid
- $90.00 - Buys a Safety Package (Light, Lock, Helmet) for an Earn-A-Bike Kid
- $292.00 - Pays for One Earn-A-Bike Class for a Kid
Join us for Nancy's Ride so you can see the impact of your donation! We need your help, because you can make a difference.
What is Nancy’s Ride?
Nancy’s Ride is a welcoming, inclusive ride for all cyclists with the goal of sharing Freewheelin’s love of supporting youth cycling. This year all ride loops will start and return at the Tabernacle Presbyterian Church across the street from the Freewheelin’ Community Bike Shop. Can we count on you to join us?
Come join the fun on a great day of riding with friends of Freewheelin' and tour our great city and surrounding areas. Riders may take on several of our planned routes and enjoy fun amenities in the Tabernacle parking lot for the entire family. From face painting, to small bike cone courses, to mechanical We will have snacks, beverages, lunch, and restrooms. The family-oriented Destination Ride (10k) will include unique destinations and attractions. Then, we have mapped three (3) distance rides for riders to explore 20-mile loops to the North, East, and West of the Start/Finish zone.
About Nancy
Nancy Stimsom was a youth pastor who believed in the worth and gifts of each individual to enrich the world. She was also a passionate cyclist. She founded Freewheelin’ Community Bikes in 2009 to share practical and intangible life skills with youth. Nancy believed that by teaching youth how to maintain, repair and ride bicycles we would help promote great citizens of the Indianapolis Community. We all strive to “be like Nancy.”
