Description
The Muncie Ten is the oldest continuously running road race in Indiana. Retrace the footsteps of some of Indiana's most outstanding road racers which include Hal Higdon, Jim Kirkwood, Chuck Koeppen, Karen McQuiliken, Greg Harger, Steve Voss, Laura Didion, George Branam, Jerry Pierce, Jane Tomkin, Chuck Hock, and Jim Leffler, just to name a few. Course records are held by two former 2008 Olympic Marathon qualifiers Turena Johnson Lane 58:46 (2004) and Cecil Franke 49:47 (1987).
The Muncie Ten is a ten mile road race featuring a combination of residential and rural surroundings. The course has no major hills but, usually has a varying degree of wind. At this time of year, the possibility of rain/sleet/snow also exists.
The start/finish line is at Mitchell School located on Purdue Avenue just north of McGalliard and west of Oakwood. This will be a chipped/timed event. Ribbons will be awarded to age group winners.
