☺ Fun run/walk (3 to 10 miles - you do you!)
☺ Micah Driscoll will give a talk before the run about running and mental health! Micah is a board certified Psychuatric Mental-Health Nurse Practitioner.
☺ Sample energy gels and hydration products before or during the run!
☺ All paces and abilities welcome! This fun run is open to both members and non-members of the run club! (Learn more about run club HERE )
**PLEASE complete free registration so we can plan accordingly!!
*Extra Mile fun run/walk uses the city pathways. We ask everyone to be mindful of the crosswalks, cars on the road and are familiar with the route. Anyone under the age of 12 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
This is a fun, energetic, themed and organized group run to help start your training program off. We will have coaches and people to help guide you. We will have pick your distance (3 to 12 miles). These runs are intended to be fun, relaxed and a way to run on some amazing routes in the region. Extra Mile is solely offering a location to meet up. If you are running longer distances, be sure to bring your own water.

Full loop is 9 miles. Do more than 1 loop to go longer, to go shorter, do an out & back.

Micah Driscoll
Title: Psychiatric Mental-Health Nurse Practitioner – Board Certified
Education: Masters of Science in Nursing from IUPUI
Mental Health Background:
I have been in the field of Mental Health Nursing for the last 10+ years
I began in Child and Adolescent Behavioral health in Minnesota
Then started working for Porter Starke Services – A Community Mental Health Center with offices Valparaiso, Knox, and Portage IN
Running Background:
I grew up running the hills in Northeast Iowa and ran cross country and track in high school.
My first Marathon was Grandma’s IN Duluth MN in 2001 and I ran my last marathon in Chicago in 2015.
I was an assistant coach for track and cross country in MN and again at Victory Christian Academy in Valparaiso till 2023.
Currently, I mostly do 5K to half-marathons and 2-4 races per year. In June, I completed my first triathlon.
Hobbies:
My hobbies include going on walks with my wife, playing ultimate frisbee with my kids, and, of course, running and other endurance activities like backpacking, swimming, and bicycling. I also spend my time volunteering with the youth and young adults at my church and help to mentor young men.
