Race the Region invites you to lace up your running shoes and embrace the challenge of our scenic cross-country course.
Nestled in the heart of Valparaiso, Indiana, Sunset Hill County Park offers an idyllic backdrop for athletes of all levels to test their mettle and enjoy the beauty of nature.
This event has both a timed 5K event; along with, an untimed 1 mile dog walk.

Event Benefits
Race the Region is a Northwest Indiana Event Management Company that partners with local organization to help raise awareness and monies for said organization.
Race the Region is proud to partner with the Hobart Humane Society for the 2024 Whisker Run 5K and 1 Mile Dog Walk.
A portion of the proceeds will go directly to Hobart Humane Society. If you would like to make an additional donation to them please click here.
Registration and Packet Pick Up

Online Registration: All participants are required to register online. Online registration will continue to be available until 6:10 PM on race day.

Pre-Race Packet Pick Up:
- Dates: Wednesday, August 21 and Thursday, August 22 from 10 AM to 6 PM, and Friday, August 23 from 10 AM to 4 PM.
- Location: Extra Mile Fitness Company, 3400 Calumet Ave., Valparaiso, Indiana 46383.

Onsite Packet Pick Up on Race Day:
- Starts: 5 PM on race day.
Participants should ensure they register online before the deadline if they haven't already, and they have the option to pick up their race packets either before the race at the designated location or on race day itself starting at 5 PM.
The Course
This two loop course winds through the stunning trails and rolling hills of Sunset Hill County Park, promising both a challenging and rewarding experience for participants. Whether you're a seasoned trail runner or new to the sport, you'll find something to love about our carefully curated route.
Post Race Party
Join us for a fun-filled night of live music featuring our very own John Arredondo! Bring your lawn chairs and coolers with your favorite beverages, and let's enjoy the tunes together.
But that's not all! We’ll also have a Taco Truck on-site, so you can purchase some delicious eats to make the evening even more enjoyable.

Perks
All participants who register prior to August, 14, 2024 will have the ability to pick out a race shirt. Otherwise, participants will pick from shirts that are available or choose a no shirt option. All participants will receive a finisher's medal. All participants who register for the 1 Mile Dog Walk will receive a custom bandana. Timing mats at the Starting Line and Chip Timing for Finish Results

All turns will have directional signs
No processing fee for online signup. Finisher photo and video.

*Overall and Age Group Awards may be claimed within 14 days following the event at The Extra Mile Fitness Co., 3400 Calumet, Valparaiso, IN 46383. After 14 days all unclaimed awards will be donated or recycled. Participants that do not pick up their race shirt on or before race day are not guaranteed a shirt.
