Description
"The Anchored Marathon" is a certified and sanctioned Boston Qualifying road marathon. The purpose of the event is to give Alaskan runners an opportunity to qualify for Boston 2021 in state.
There will also be a Half-Marathon option.
*The Anchored Marathon will be open to the public to register and participate. If necessary, preference will be given to runners attempting to run a Boston Qualifying time.

Start time
Due to Covid-19, participants will have to select a Wave Start Time in order to practice safe social distancing. Waves of participants will start every 30 minutes beginning at 9:00 AM. Each wave will be limited to 50 participants.
Wave 1 @ 9:00am
Wave 2 @ 9:30am
Wave 3 @ 10:00am
Please plan on starting in your assigned wave and adhering to social distance as much as possible.

What is the Course?
Marathon
The course starts and finishes at Goose Lake and consists of two out and backs. The first takes you out toward University Lake via the Chester Creek Trail where you will turn around at the roundabout near the southwest corner of the lake. The race continues back past Good Lake and down Chester Creek Trail then continues on the Coastal Trail heading toward Kincaid. The second turnaround is 400m past Milepost 8 on the Coastal Trail. From there you run back to the finish at Goose Lake.
Half-Marathon
The course starts and finishes at Goose Lake. Exact course will be released soon.
Event Packet and Bib Pickup
Bib pickup will be available on event day only.

Sweet Merch!
Marathon participants will be guaranteed a Hat. Remaining hats will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.
Aid Stations
There will be a minimum of 4 aid stations on the marathon course. The locations will be marked on the map available at the course website. The aid stations will have self serve bottled water and single serving energy gels. However, we highly encourage you to carry your own fluid and nutrition as minimizing contact between staff and participants is essential.
