"In It to Win It" 34 Mile Virtual Run/Walk

The Will Haney Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in North Alabama.  Due to the pandemic this year we were unable to have our annual Will Haney Foundation Race of Champions.  We kept thinking that maybe conditions would improve so we could have our in-person 5K but have decided that in lieu of our 5K we would up the mileage and encourage all runners & walkers to embark on a 34 mile journey with us over the "course" of 34 days!!  After 19 months and 24 cycles of chemotherapy Will was 34 years old when cancer took his life.  Even through very aggressive chemotherapy treatments, Will continued to enjoy life on his farm, never complaining and amazingly, still living life to the fullest.  Will was an avid runner and was always encouraging others to get out and be active.  Not only did Will encourage others to exercise but Will’s heart was so caring and compassionate that he was in school to become a nurse.  He was in his last year of nursing school when he was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, an extremely rare cancer found most often in children.  Will’s moto was “In It to Win It.”  The Will Haney Foundation hopes that no matter your exercise level you will help us remember our friend, brother and son while running or walking to remember the 34 years we had Will with us.  All proceeds from the race will go to support other families fighting the cancer battle, to help further cancer research, and provide scholarships to graduating Seniors going into the nursing field.  WILLPOWER!!
