Equal Access Birmingham’s 6th Annual Heart + Sole 5K Run

Equal Access Birmingham (EAB), a free clinic run by medical students from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, works with an interdisciplinary team of UAB volunteer physicians, medical students, and other healthcare professionals and students to provide free medical care, medication, and health education to medically uninsured or underinsured residents of Birmingham. We staff two clinics each week, an Acute Care Clinic on Wednesday and a Chronic Care Clinic on Sundays. We also hold monthly health screenings, monthly Mental Health Clinic, and weekly health education sessions at M-Power Ministries. EAB strives to promote health and wellness in the Birmingham community.

Here's how it'll work:

1. Register ahead of time online from this website. Online registration will remain open through Oct 18th.

2. Run, walk or roll a 5k (3.1 miles) route or distance of your choice where you feel safe and can abide by social distancing guidelines! Equal Access Birmingham (EAB), a free clinic run by medical students from the University of Alabama School of Medicine social distancing guidelines. Ask your family and friends to join you, and create your own ‘safe’ mini-event. You can even run/walk on a treadmill!

3. Take plenty of photos while running the race or after completing it - especially with your race t-shirt or other UAB gear! Be sure to upload to social media with the hashtag #EABHeartSole5k.

4. Congratulate yourself on supporting Equal Access Birmingham and getting out there for a little heart-healthy exercise!

To ensure you receive your t-shirt by race day, order by 5 p.m. on September 28th! Early bird pricing includes a $5 discount. T-shirts will be available for pick-up at Volker Hall before race day or can be mailed to your personal address for your convenience.
