About Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue
Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue is a no-kill, cage-free shelter for cats and kittens that have been rescued from euthanasia, abuse, and neglect. We have made it our mission to save these abandoned, stray, and injured animals and provide them with the care they need in a safe and loving environment and adopt them into loving forever homes. Our animals are free roaming in a residential setting; therefore they are acclimated to the experience of a normal home life and are more readily socialized into adoptive homes than other rescued animals.
In the past year, we have successfully placed over 800 cats from our facility in Hoover, Alabama into homes in Birmingham and surrounding areas. We care for our rescued animals for as long as it takes and some may live out the rest of their days in our care. Unlike municipal shelters, we abide by a no-kill policy and boast a 98% live release rate every year since our first year serving the community.
We have a talented and diverse network of volunteers that help make this work possible. These individuals tend to the daily needs of the animals and the facility, freely offering their time and energy. They also open their homes to care for our animals. They bottle feed kittens, medicate the sick and injured, and socialize the neglected. It is through their efforts that our mission is accomplished.
We have been fortunate to have the support of the people in our community. We have received generous donations of food and supplies and the message of our purpose has been shared far and wide. This has made it easier to accomplish our goals and to help more animals than we ever thought possible. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization we depend on the generosity of donors to remain operational. It is only by your financial support that the doors remain open and the vet bills are paid.
We are grateful for the love and support we have received this past year and look forward to expanding our service to the community. In an effort to raise awareness and to share the success of our no-kill, cage-free efforts, we are once again holding a 5k Meow-A-Thon run and 1-mile Whisker Walk. We would like to be able to count on your support in our effort.
