11th Annual Equal Access Birmingham Heart + Sole 5K

On November 7th, 2026, Equal Access Birmingham (EAB), a free medical clinic run by medical students from the University of Alabama at Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine, is hosting the 11th Annual Heart + Sole 5K Run in person! The goal is to raise money to further our mission -- to provide free medical care, medication, and health education to medically uninsured or underinsured residents of Birmingham.

Event Details:

• Start and finish at the parking lot of 32 Vine St across from the Mountain Brook Community Education
• Warm Up let by Battle Republic Fitness Studio who is also giving out free class passes
• DJ Rob Langford to hype up the crowd!
• Costume Contest with prizes for the winners!
• After Party at 11 am at Good People Brewing Company with a portion of sales benefitting EAB!

Pre-Race Info:

• Bib and T-Shirt Pick-Up at Volker Hall on Friday, November 6th from 10-3 pm
• Volker Hall Address: 1670 University Blvd, Birmingham, AL 35233
• If you're not able to make it, we will be distributing before the race as well with check-in starting at 8 am!
   

About EAB:

We staff two primary care clinics each week, occurring Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons. We also hold specialty clinics on Saturdays including Reproductive Health, Mental Health, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Optometry, and Urology. EAB strives to promote health and wellness in the Birmingham community.

All proceeds will be used to support the operations of Equal Access Birmingham through the EAB Gift and Endowment Fund. Our route is linked below!

Register ahead of time online from this website. Online registration will remain open through November 6th. Race packets and T-Shirts will be given out the week before the race!
