Let's face it, 2020 has been challenging. So let's end this challenging year with one last challenge - BEAT THE NEW YEAR!
How does it work?
- On December 31 you will run a 5k starting at 11:30 PM (yep, you read that right, PM!). You will try to finish your 5k BEFORE the clock strikes midnight and becomes 2021.
- OR, you can run your 5k anytime December 24-January 1 (best option for families/kids)
- You pick your 5k course (this is a run anywhere event)
- We encourage you to download and use the RaceJoy App
- Race day, start the RaceJoy App and log your run
- Post your run in the Facebook event page and/or on Instagram using the hashtag #BeatTheNewYear
- You can upload pictures to your results
If you're like me, bedtime is 8:30 p.m. Staying up to (or waking up at) 11:30 p.m. is going be really hard. BUT, you have options. Here are just a few ideas:
- Use New York City's time zone. In Arizona, that's 2 hours ahead. Start at 9:30 p.m. and finish before 10:00 p.m.
- Use London, England's time zone. In Arizona, that's 7 hours ahead. Run at 4:30 p.m. and finish before 5:00 p.m.
- Another option would be to use Sydney, Australia time zone. In Arizona, that's 18 hours ahead! Run on December 30 at 5:30 A.M. and finish by 6:00 A.M (This would be 12:00 a.m. January 1 in Sydney.)
- If you're in an area that has a curfew that does not exempt running/walking, you have anytime to run/walk starting on December 24. OR, you could run your 5k on a dreadmill...um, I mean...treadmill.
Want to add some flair to your run?
- Take a picture of you chugging a glass of eggnog before and/or after your run.
- Wear an ugly Christmas sweater and snap a photo
- Wear your best Santa suit and snap a photo
- Create and wear your own costume celebrating a new year and snap a photo.
Can you leave 2020 in the dust before 2021? We think you can.
A custom bib (must be registered by December 21 to receive bib if mailing, or you can download your digital bib from the website), a custom logo mug, and an entry into a raffle drawing for a $50 Summit Hut gift card..
First 100 entries will also receive a custom event finisher's medal too.
