Description
The A Mountain Challenge returns and is better than ever! Test your limits by participating in the A Mountain Challenge, which runs March 11 through April 30, 2024. Register to receive a T-shirt and climb the mountain to win milestone prizes! The more you climb, the more prizes you earn! Each time you reach a milestone, your name will be entered to win a Grand Prize Staycation Package at a luxury hotel in Downtown Tempe!

What do I receive for registering for the A Mountain Challenge?
Each participant receives a high quality, custom designed t-shirt and the opportunity to earn milestone prizes and entries into the drawing for the Grand Prize Downtown Tempe Staycation Package.
When can I pick up my A Mountain Shirt and prizes?
Your A Mountain Challenge shirt and milestone prizes can be claimed at any of the three upcoming prize distributions in Downtown Tempe:
- Saturday, March 23, 9AM - 11AM | Pickup at ChopShop located at 222 E Univeristy Dr, Tempe, AZ, 85281
- Sunday, April 14, 10AM - 3PM | Pickup at 2nd Sunday's Info Booth located at 5th St. & Mill Ave.
- Saturday, May 4, 9AM - 11AM | Pickup at the Downtown Tempe Authority Office located at 1 W Rio Salado Pkwy, Tempe, AZ, 85281
Prize pickup details will be sent in email reminders to those registered for updates.
How do I log my climbs?
There are multiple ways to submit your climbs for the A Mountain Challenge.
- Submit from RunSignup Race Page: Navigate to the Results tab for A Mountain Challenge. Then select Submit Virtual Results. Next search for your registration either by first and last name or by email address and DOB. Once you have found your registration, select Submit Virtual Results, Enter the Number of Climbs and Submit Results.
- Submit Climbs from Your RunSignup Profile: Navigate to your RunSignup Profile by selecting the Profile Icon at the top right hand corner. Under your Upcoming Events>Select Submit Virtual Results>Enter your Climbs>Select Submit Results
IMPORTANT: If you have your Profile set as anonymous (which you can check, as explained here), then you will not be able to find yourself in this search. You can use the instructions in the following section for "Submit Virtual Results From Your RunSignup Profile" in order to submit results while remaining anonymous.
Where should I park?
Mission Palms Parking Lot sponsored by Tempe Mission Palms Hotel: All registered participants will receive a code via email to park for free from 5AM - 9AM at this lot.
201 S Ash Garage: This lot is FREE if entering Monday – Friday after 6PM and exiting before 6AM. The garage is FREE all day Saturdays & Sundays (excluding special events).
On Street Meters: There are 400+ on-street meters in Downtown Tempe. Rates vary by location & time. All on street meters are FREE on Sundays & Holidays.
What are the Elevation Achievement Milestones?
A Mountain is 1,496 ft. in elevation. Below is a breakdown of the number of times you will have to climb A Mountain in order to reach the height of a larger mountain. You will also find the corresponding prize that goes along with the achievement once it has been accomplished.
Camelback: 2,707 ft. = 4 climbs | Prize: A Mountain Sticker AND Entry Into the Grand Prize for a chance to win a Downtown Tempe Staycation Package.
Humphreys Peak: 12,633 ft. = 10 climbs | Prize: $5 Gift Card to a Downtown Merchant AND Entry Into the Grand Prize for a chance to win a Downtown Tempe Staycation Package.
Mt. Rainer: 14,411 ft. = 25 climbs | Prize: $5 Gift Card to a Downtown Merchant AND Entry Into the Grand Prize for a chance to win a Downtown Tempe Staycation Package.
Mt. Everest: 29,032 ft. = 40 climbs | Prize: $5 Gift Card to a Downtown Merchant AND Entry Into the Grand Prize for a chance to win a Downtown Tempe Staycation Package at the Omni Hotel.
*The base elevations, peak elevations, and the number of climbs are close estimates and may not be 100% accurate, but this is all for fun!
