The Walk Home is a celebration hosted by Housing Matters
What are we celebrating? The recent milestone we, as a community (that includes YOU!), have reached through the newly named 180 Together initiative: housing 1,000 chronically homeless individuals and families in Santa Cruz County.
Join us in celebrating this incredible community-wide achievement!
We will collectively walk (or run, if you’re feeling speedy) 1,000 miles to honor and celebrate the 1,000 people housed through 180 Together, formerly known as the 180/2020 initiative.
This achievement was a community-wide, multi-agency effort. And we want to celebrate with each and every person who made this a reality. Although we cannot gather together, we are thrilled to kick off a 10-day, community-wide celebration all across the county.
So, close your laptop and get outside to celebrate the work you and your community have done to get 1,000 people off the streets and into a safe place to call home.
How to Participate

TAKE THE PLEDGE. Click the Sign Up button above, and pledge the number of miles you will walk toward our community-wide goal of 1,000 miles for 1,000 people housed. The official event runs from October 23 to November 1. That means you have TEN DAYS! How many miles will you cover in 10 days?

WALK (or run, or skip, or…!). You have 10 days to complete your pledged miles.

SEND US PHOTOS/VIDEOS. If you feel so inclined, share the celebratory spirit by snapping photos and videos of yourself and your walking buddies, and send them our way. (We'll send you submission instructions once you're registered.)
This video can be a thank you/congratulations to those who worked to achieve this goal, a message to the 1,000 people who were housed through the initiative, a story from your involvement in the initiative, or simply a brief snippet of you covering some miles.
We will be compiling submissions to create a celebratory video to share with the greater community after the event ends so stay tuned!
