Rise Together Education College Tour Race: A Challenge to Support ALL of our Students to Reach their Dreams of Graduating from College

Sat May 1 - Mon May 31

Description

RTE Race is a month-long exercise-a-thon to unlock campus badges on our virtual campus tour. Proceeds will benefit college bound and low income Paly graduates!

Please help us support ALL of our students to reach their dreams of graduating from college! Since 2015, Rise Together Education (RTE) has supported 64 Paly grads in college, and 8 of them have now graduated! Our RTE students are typically from families earning less than $47,500/year for a family of four. RTE is looking forward to supporting more students from Paly's Class of 2021 thus the reason we designed this fundraiser. Your tax deductible registration fee will go towards RTE scholarships. However, the OVERALL goal for this College Tour Race is to raise $50,000 for college scholarships for Palo Alto High School's low-income students! (See below for more info on how you can help fundraise.)

Our RTE College Tour Race is VIRTUAL but your exercise is REAL! It starts on May 1 and ends on May 31, 2021 at 11:59 pm PST, however, you can join the race at any time from anywhere.

The RTE College Tour Race is a 2,822 mile virtual tour in which participants visit our out of state students. It's an opportunity to learn more about our students who are attending schools outside of California and improve your health! You have the opportunity to register and input your exercise activities and compete as an individual, family, or organization/team. You will support RTE students by virtually "paying them a visit" at 10 out-of-state college campuses. We will start at Wharton County Junior College in Texas (where we have a student studying nursing - an impacted area of study in California) and travel across the south and up to the northeast, ending at Tufts University in Massachusetts. How you travel is up to you - run, walk, bike, swim, ski, row - use any method where you can gain mileage, then upload your results to and view our leaderboard to see how you stack up against other participants.

A MAP is available to track your progress, and you will earn milestone badges for each school you visit!  YOU MUST SELECT TO RECEIVE EMAILS IN THE REGISTRATION PROCESS IN ORDER TO RECEIVE MILESTONE BADGES.

Mileage conversion chart is located here.

For AN INDIVIDUAL, your goal is to complete 80 miles in 31 days. Goal = 20 miles per week!

For A FAMILY (of up to 5 people), your goal is to complete, collectively, 392 miles in 31 days. Goal = 100 miles per week!

For AN ORGANIZATION/TEAM (of up to 10 people), your goal is to complete, collectively, 784 miles. Goal = 200 miles per week!

The top three: fundraisers raising the most money and, each of, individuals, family and organization/team who complete the race in the shortest time will be recognized in our newsletter.  All who complete the mapped route will receive a RTE College Tour Race certificate!

Thank you for your support!

************ HELP US RAISE FUNDS FOR COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS!!! **************

Approximately 10% of Paly students are considered low-income. Our scholars come from families making less than $47.5K annual income for a family of 4. YOU CAN HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE by creating a college scholarship fundraiser through our the RTE College Tour Race website after registering. Our OVERALL fundraising goal is to reach $50,000 in order to provide financial support to our low-income scholars! In addition to the fundraiser via the Race website, you can donate HERE, via our Facebook page or mail in a check to us. Each individual, family and organization/team that raises the most money will win prizes!
