Event Overview:
The Connecting Compton Relay is a community-based, 13.3-mile (slightly over half- marathon distance) 4-member team relay race. Each member will carry and pass on batons to their teammate at designated exchange zones across Compton. The event is designed to bring together runners of all levels — from first-time participants to seasoned athletes — to experience the power of teamwork, community pride, and fitness while exploring the heart of Compton. There will be no street closures. Each participant should have experience running/walking on sidewalks and streets with traffic.

Time: 6:30 AM meeting time - 7 AM race start
Start/Finish Location: Compton VFW parking area- 303 E Palmer St, Compton, Ca 90221

Distance: 13.3 Miles (Half Marathon Distance)
Format: 4-Person Team Relay
Race Concept & Course:
Participants will run a looped route that highlights many areas in Compton. Each leg will begin and end at a relay exchange zone staffed by volunteers. The course will emphasize safety, visibility, and community engagement.
- Leg 1: VFW → North on Alameda → Left on El Segundo → Left on Central (Approximately 3.27 miles)
Exchange to Leg 2 at Centennial High School (2606 N Central Ave, Compton, Ca 90221- Front of School- Checkpoint 1)
- Leg 2: Centennial High School → Continue on Central → Left on Alondra (Approximately 3.12 miles)
Exchange to Leg 3 at Compton High School (Alondra side of School, Oleander/Alondra- Checkpoint 2)
- Leg 3: Compton High School → Continue on Alondra (Approximately 3.36 miles)
Exchange to Leg 4 at McDonald's- (7357 Alondra Blvd, Paramount, Ca 90723- Alondra/Garfield- Checkpoint 3)
- Leg 4: McDonald's → Left on Garfield → Left on Somerset/Compton Blvd (Approximately 3.55 miles)
Finish back at VFW
Event Goals:
- Promote Health & Wellness: Encourage physical activity and teamwork within the community.
- Highlight the City of Compton: Showcase local parks, schools, and neighborhoods in a positive light.
- Foster Community Pride: Unite residents, organizations, and small businesses through a signature citywide event.

Race packet pickup on the following day and time:
- Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 10:30 am - 2 pm- At Patria Coffee Roasters- 108 N Alameda St E, Compton, Ca. 90221
Participant Information:
- Team Size: 4 members per team
- Categories: Men's, Women's, and Co-ed
- Co-ed teams should include 2 females and 2 males
Registration Includes:
- Custom race bib & baton
- T-shirt
- Finisher medal for each participant
- Photos from the race
- Post-race refreshments and music• Access to the "Finish Line Celebration Zone" at VFW
Post Race:
Post-race food and music at the VFW to celebrate the event.
Please Note:
The 4th leg for each team should wear the bib for time-tracking purposes.
