5Ks of Hope: Race Against Stomach Cancer

Description

Join us on our First Annual 5K run/walk and race against stomach cancer!

Whether you enjoy competitive running or want to stroll along this scenic lakeside route, the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area will not disappoint. The course is mostly level and paved – perfect for experienced and beginners.

5k (or just over 3 miles) is an achievable distance for all ages and abilities. You can take part however you like and choose to run, jog or walk your way around the course.

Those who jog or run Race for often complete the 5k course in about 30 to 45 minutes. Walkers take about an hour, but there’s no pressure to finish in a certain time. It’s all about uniting in the fight against cancer.

Your participation enables our 100% volunteer non-profit, Hope for Stomach Cancer, to carry out its mission and create programs that enable those affected by stomach cancer to take actionable steps and overcome each phase of the disease.

The American Cancer Society estimates that in the United States alone, 26,240 people will be diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2018.

Stomach cancer is almost always discovered in advanced stages leaving patients with very little time to fight this deadly disease.

Patients, caregivers, and loved ones are left to navigate the cancer journey with very little time. That’s where we come in. We focus on serving the stomach cancer community beginning with the patient and providing resources to support their immediate needs.

There is only one entry way into the Santa Fe Dam on Arrow Highway. If you are going east on Arrow Highway (coming from the 605 Freeway), please note the signage to turn left into the Santa Fe Dam parking lot is called Azusa Canyon Road. If you are heading west on Arrow Highway, you will turn right on Santa Fe Dam Road.

Please note: Parking at Santa Fe Dam is $10.00 and is not included with registration.
