Description
The Pacifica Marathon is a difficult race, but it is more epic than it is difficult. Starting at the Northern most point of Pacifica (Fairmont Park), it winds down a system of trails to the road palmetto. Following Palmetto down to coast, runners will remain in earshot of crashing waves for ~ 9 miles through some of the most iconic a beautiful destinations in Pacifica such as; The Pier, Morri Point, Rockaway Beach, Linda Mar Beach, and Pedro Point. There are few hills and bumps thus far in the marathon, but not anything substantial in elevation gain. However, now the runners cross under Highway 1 under a bridge into what’s known as The Back of the Valley of Pacifica, and will begin a nearly 1000 foot 7 mile climb up the Higgins Trail. Once runners reach the high point of the Pacifica Marathon it shoots them even deeper into The Back of the Valley to San Pedro Valley County Park. Once arrived at the end the valley via the Hazelnut trail in San Pedro Valley County Park the runners are turned back down Rosita Ave to the finish line at Linda Mar Beach.
