The Event
Looking for a way to support a local animal shelter? Register for the event and walk or run a 5K anywhere, anytime between August 28 - August 31, to raise funds and awareness for shelter animals and help clear the shelters! All proceeds from registration, event accessories, and additional donations go directly to the Pets in Need organization.
This run is being organized by members of the Palo Alto Senior High School Track & Field team. There will be an in-person gathering at Pet In Need’s Palo Alto shelter on Saturday, Aug. 29 from 9am-11am, with merchandise, giveaways and snacks. Those who wish to run or walk on Palo Alto’s Bay Trail on that day are welcome to. The event will follow safe distancing guidelines and masks are required. Details to follow.
To submit a race time and be entered on the official leaderboard, share an activity tracked through any running app (Strava, Nike Run Club, etc.) with PINCleartheSheltersRun@gmail.com.
About Pets In Need
Founded in 1965, Pets In Need is Northern California’s first no-kill animal shelter. The nonprofit organization, with locations in Redwood City and Palo Alto, rescues cats and dogs from public shelters in the Bay Area and beyond when they are in danger of being euthanized due to space or financial limitations. Pets In Need has consistently earned a four-star rating by Charity Navigator, and its medical operation is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association, a distinction given to fewer than 15 percent of veterinary clinics in the United States. The organization has a strong volunteer and foster network and also offers a variety of programs, including youth camps, teen shadow opportunities, senior programs, and Yappy Hours.
