Description
The Double returns for a Second year in San Juan Bautista. The Double Road Race is one race with two legs. You first run the 10k leg and then one hour and 45 minutes later the 5k leg starts. Times from the two legs are combined for scoring. The UjENA Double 5K is a 3K followed by a 2K with a break in between. Bring the kids (13 and under) for Bob Anderson's Kids Cup Double 1.5 Mile (1M+1/2M).
The San Juan Bautista Double will start on the historic main street and finish in front of the Mission San Juan Bautista.
The Recovery Zone will be situated in the large grassy area in front of the historic mission where Spanish soldiers and Native Americans had camped in the 1800s.
The garlic and artichoke mecca of the country, this area provides a grand tour into California’s earliest historical beginnings, which means there is so much to experience in and around this Double, which surely ranks as one of the most unique runs in the country
"The Double Road Race® is the only running event with a halftime. Run 10K first, rest and relax for about an hour, then run 5K," says Bob Anderson, who created the new sport Double Road Racing, and founded Runner's World magazine.
"We have really cool shirts, double-sided finishing medals for all Double finishers, large medals to the top five in each age group, and $4,000 of cash prizes," says local race director Daniel Lowell. "Plus special prizes for the Ujena 5k and Kids Cup Mile races."
"If you are not ready to 'Do The Double,' you can run or walk the 5k Bell Tower Run/Walk and brings the kids for the Bob Anderson's Kids Cup Mile. All kids get a medal, and this all benefits youth running"
