Description

This triathlon series was created to help bring the sport of triathlon to Sonoma County. These are short distance triathlons/duathlon open to all levels of ability. This is an excellent first race and will help you succeed in a non-competitive atmosphere. All are welcome to participate. Excellent for novices, great competition for the seasoned triathlete. This event is non-competitive and time is not recorded. It is designed for you to complete and enjoy. The race starts at Finley Aquatic Center and travels along the Santa Rosa Creek Trail for the bike and run course. Included in each athlete’s registration fee is custom Team DJFE medal, a swim cap, and an athlete goody bag. Proceeds from this event will benefit Inspiration Sports Foundation, a local 501c3 that serves the youth of Sonoma County through sports camps and other fitness related activities.

F.A.Q.

Frequently asked questions

Question #1: The swim is in a pool? How does that work?

Participants will get in a lane that accommodates their swim times..faster swimmers go into the deeper lanes and slower swimmer will go into the more shallow lanes.

There are 10 lanes in the pool, so participants will have to share lanes and do something that we call circle swimming. See diagram below:

During circle swim, participants will always stay to their right. If you choose to pass someone, please do it at the turns to prevent collisions.

Question #2: What is the pool temperature?

It is a therapeutic pool, so the temps range from 77º - 81º

Questions #3: What is the typical weather situation in September?

Welcome to Sonoma County! Morning temps range from 48º - 60º when participants arrive (around 7:30am) and will warm up to about 80º by the race finish (around 10:30am - 11am). It is important to know that you may need a jacket on the bike portion of the race if you are doing the triathlon because its no fun to be wet and cold.

Race Day Parking

Parking will be at the Finley Community Center.
