NBVC Outdoor Adventures: Introduction to Mountain Biking at Harmon Canyon Preserve

Experience the thrill of mountain biking with our Community Recreation Staff! We'll briefly go over practicing various riding techniques, including body and pedal position, shifting, braking, climbing, descending, and navigating minor obstacles on the trail. We'll also go over vital communication skills and mountain biking trail etiquette to keep multi-use trails open and safe for everyone.
We'll practice all these new skills on a beginner-friendly trail ride! We will only provide mountain bikes for patrons who register on Runsignup with the correct frame size selected, frame sizes are limited.
This class is for individuals who are already comfortable riding a bike on flat and even terrain.

Harmon Canyon to Overlook Bench is a 7.3 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Ventura, California that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
This trail starts out of Harmon Canyon Preserve. There is plenty of parking in the area. Most of this trail is nice and wide with a gradual incline that will take you to a beautiful overview of the Channel Islands and views of both ocean and the mountains that surround the communities of Santa Paula and Fillmore.
Please Note: Free parking is available at the preserve trailhead off of McVittie Place. You can park on the west side of Kimball, or park a few blocks down Kimball and Loma Vista Road at Juanamaria Park, and walk a few blocks to the trailhead.
