Spring Into Action Challenge

Winters Combined PTA has been busy planning their second annual Spring into Action Challenge, which is our big spring fundraiser.  We are rallying community members and virtual followers to get out and move their bodies in support of Winters Elementary students.  We encourage supporters to run, walk, hike, bike, trike, jump, and dance…just about anything to perhaps win a trip to the Napa Valley.

 Supporters can participate in two ways.  First, virtually; participants can choose their own activity between now and April 17, documented it with a picture and then post their activity to our Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/WintersSpingIntoActionChallenge or #wintersspringintoaction.  Supporters will automatically be entered to win a Napa Valley experience, which includes an overnight stay at the Westin Verasa, hot air balloon ride from Napa Valley Balloons Inc., Napa & Sonoma Valley Bike Tours and a private tasting and tour at Beringer. Our hope is the more people that do this, it will motivate others in their network to participate.  

Secondly, on Sunday, April 17th,  PTA, Winters Health Care and other local sponsors are teaming up for a community health fair.  We’d like to invite the community Winters to Rotary Park to engage in a number of wellness activities sponsored by Winters Health Care.  The morning will also includes a community stretch, 1 mile fun run, 5K group run, or a historical walk around Winters.  Registration starts at 8:30AM and the festivities kick off at 9AM .

 Cost is $30 for adults and $15 for children 11 and under.  All participants will receive an official Winters Spring into Action Challenge t-shirt sponsored by Adidas and other local businesses including Winters Healthcare, Abby Malmstrom with Live for it All, Andy Pignataro at State Farm, Mariani Nut, Steady Eddy’s, Scoop, Joey’s Watercraft, Anytime Fitness, Park Winters, Preserve, Pearce Heating and Air, Ace Hardware, Buckhorn, First Northern, Waste management, Universal Electric, Anderson Catering, Town & Country Market and Howard’s Door and More.

In addition, WHS Seniors Lilia Walton, Rylee Guerrero, Arely Salas, and Mikey Arizaga, who teamed up with PTA as part of their Senior Capstone will be selling raffle tickets in front of First Northern Bank on Friday, April 8th from 4 – 6pm for $1 to win sponsored donated items, including a stay at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel and Sacramento Kings tickets.  Proceeds raised from their efforts will be split 50/50, half going to the PTA, and the other half to The American Heart Association.
