Description
Background:
As most of you may know I recently participated in the Tulsa Ironman on May 21st, 2023. I was planning on a one and done Ironman experience but I received a roll-down slot and qualified to participate in the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii on October 14th, 2023. For me, this is a once and a lifetime opportunity which I knew I could not pass up. It’s a pool of over 2,000 female athletes and I am honored to get to race alongside the best in this sport.
With training being such a big part of my life, I decided that I wanted to host a fundraising event to help offset the costs as well as connect with my community and support systems in a unique way.
Personally, I have grown a lot over the last few months with the physical and mental grind it takes to compete in an ironman. I've pushed myself past my comfort zone time and time again. And I’ve proved that when you have goals there is no other option than to put in the work.
This time I want to bring you all along on my training journey. Hopefully this challenge will inspire you to prove to yourself that your mind and body are capable of so much more than we give it credit for.
The Race Challenge:
The Cat Crawl Challenge 2023 is a virtual race challenge intending to be a fundraiser for my upcoming Ironman. But even more than that, to push ourselves and each other out of or comfort zone and build a community while doing it. It will be a challenge style race where you commit to a milage to perform and record over the course of a month.
You have the option to participate in any of the 3 distances, 26.2 (marathon), 70.3(half-ironman), and 140.6 (full ironman) for the race challenge. The mileage can be run, walked, hiked, biked, swam, rowed/paddled or any activity of your choosing for an accumulation of miles over a month. (You can always donate more at the end of the race sign up, but choose to complete smaller distances).
The race challenge will begin on July 15th and end on August 15th. You have one month to complete 26.2, 70.3 or 140.3 miles! You will track your miles and enter them in as you progress through the miles until you reach your end goal. There will be a private facebook group page (Facebook Group Cat Crawl Challenge) for us to share high fives and milestones.
This is not a competition with others but more of a competition within yourself. Let’s come together, find community, push ourselves and support each other through our fitness goals!
Don't worry, I will be putting in the miles as well. I will also be posting my day by day fitness journey on Instagram and sending out updated blogs ever so often on my website.
