Welcome to the 2023 Rock Canyon Half Marathon!!!
December 3rd, 2023: 8:30am at Pueblo City park pavilion, 801 Goodnight Ave. 81005
It is exciting to bring you another exquisite day of racing alongside the scenic Arkansas River! This is a fast course that starts in Pueblo's City Park and takes you around the zoo just for starters. Then you drop down to the gorgeous rivertrail, where you will be encompassed with nonstop gorgeous terrain and scenery. This smooth path will lead you up towards the Nature Center and promptly switches your footing to soft dirt trailing. As you hit just beyond the halfway point, you will be confronted with a grandeur view of Lake Pueblo's dam and get to see the forceful water rushing into the river. You will then head back along the trail and hopefully with fast footing and well refreshed as there are several water/gatorade stations along the way. Make sure to give a big "hello" to our high-school and club runners at the aid stations! This race will continue to donate and support youth running and the building of future racers!
Every year this race gets to host runners going for their first 13.1 goals, return racers that have made this race a tradition year after year, and showcases many elite trail and road racers. The array of accomplishing racers have been a joy to see take on this fast course and come through the finish line!
We are ready to cheer you all!
Eric & Melanie

Water Stops:
There will be 7 water stations. The first has only water. All the rest will have water and Gatorade. Located approximately 2, 4, 5.75 , 7.5, 8.25, 9.75 and 11.5 miles (odd distances but we have to put water stops where we can drive a car).
Weather:
This is an event for runners (or runners who walk some) and can complete the distance in 4 hours or less - the race will end at 12:30 pm. This is to help insure the safety of our volunteers in case of harsh weather. Pueblo is located in the "banana belt" of Colorado. When it is snowing all around we tend to remain dry, which is great for runners but bad for lawns. Come prepared for snow and wind then be pleasantly surprised by the great weather we have in December in Pueblo. However, having a run in December is a gamble, we have never canceled in 36 years and we intend to run this race regardless of the weather.
The course starts with two loops around City Park and then you drop down onto the Arkansas trail. You will find a mix of terrain as you head west to Lake Pueblo Dam and back.
Parking:
Traffic through City Park is one-way so wind around the zoo to the east side of the park near the fountain and round about. Packet pickup is inside the pavilion (the big building just northwest of the round about/east entrance and fountain) from 7-8:15am. City Park, 801 Goodnight Ave. 81005. The race begins and ends near the pavilion. Parking is available on the streets, by the pool, zoo, and softball fields, within the park, so park wherever you can but watch for "No Parking" signs.
