Marathon of the Legends Team Relay & 20k Team Walk

Southern Colorado has it's awe inspiring Highway of the Legends and this third annual Marathon Team Relay race (2 up to 11 members per team) in Walsenburg, Colorado has adopted this theme. We have also added a 20K team walking event for teams of 2 to 6 members. The 26.2 mile race will start at 7:30 a.m. at Miner's Plaza at Sixth & Main in downtown Walsenburg with runners heading approximately 3 miles west on County Road 599 to the scenic  paved roads of Black Diamond Park north of U.S. 160. where 9 laps of 2.1 miles each will be completed before the final leg will return to downtown. Teams may split the leg assignments in any way of their choosing with all exchanges at the single designated location. Five teams will receive awards and the first 50 registrants will receive medals and T-shirts.

The 20K walking event will begin at 8 a.m. in the Black Diamond Park subdivision approximately 2 miles west of Walsenburg by way of U.S. 160 (at the office building at the gateway for Black Diamond Park on the north side of the highway). Teams of up to 6 walkers will complete six loops of the 2.1 mile paved streets. Individual medals will be awarded to the first 50 registrants (for the combined race & walk events) and one walking team award will be made.
