Description
This is a 14+ mile trail run around Rampart Reservoir with the trees starting to show their fall colors. The scenery alone on this race will blow you away. By design, this race is small and is a best kept secret, as there is not enough parking or other infrastructure to make this a large race.
There are 2 water stops on the trail. You are requested to you bring your own fluids. If you get lost easily, then this is not the course for you, as there are places where you can make wrong turns. The rule of thumb is to keep the reservoir on your right shoulder. If you are straying far away from the reservoir, then you've made a wrong turn.
As of September 9th, the entirety of the park is closed for the season. Colorado Springs Utilities will have security personnel on duty for this event which will allow the 2 water stations get to their locations, as well as allowing our photographer and medical personnel into the reservoir if needed.
The course will be on the perimeter trail of Rampart Reservoir. Cutoff times: WS2—2 hours, WS3—2 hours and 15 minutes. Out of respect to our volunteers, should a participant not meet these cutoff times, they will be pulled by the course marshals and driven back to the start/finish.
At the request of the Forest Service, please use USFS Roads 950 and 951 for parking. (1/4 M walk to the start). There will be minimal parking on the west side of Rampart Range Road. Parking guides will be on-site to direct you to those areas. NO parking will be allowed on the east side of the road.
Please share the Rainbow Gulch's parking lot with all trail users.
Be cautious of mountain bikers who most likely will be “training” for the Pikes Peak Apex which will start it’s 4 day series on September 24, 2020.
Pre-registration is required due to COVID 19 protocol.
7:00am - On race morning bibs for those who have pre-registered will be handed out, along with a buff which should be used as your face covering before the race starts and when you finish. Please leave the venue as soon as possible.
