Brookfield Lions Run for Sight 4-Miler

Sat December 19 - Fri January 1 Directions
Brookfield High School

For 2021, the 34th Annual Brookfield Lions Run for Sight 4-Miler has gone virtual!!

Due to the uncertainties and restrictions around the Covid19 pandemic, the Brookfield Lions Club has converted this annual road race to a virtual format. Without your continued support and generosity, this charitable fundraising event would not be the tremendous success it has been for well over thirty years, raising monies for Lions causes including eye research and vision care, diabetes awareness, youth programs and hunger.

  • You must complete your run sometime from December 19, 2020 through January 1, 2021.
  • Run an outdoor 4-mile course of your choosing (No treadmills, please!) on roads or trails; point to point, loop, out and back -- it's up to you!
  • Each runner must record their route/time via GPS (e.g. Strava; Garmin Connect; RaceJoy) on a mobile device. If using Strava you must record as a "Race" to get an accurate time.
  • All runner finisher times, in order to be official, must be submitted through the RunSignUp website between December 19, 2020 and January 1, 2021.
  • Wherever you choose to run, please remember that this road race is a self-supported event, so bring enough water, etc. for a solo run.
  • If running with others, please respect social distancing restrictions, and mask up when not running.
  • Runner safety is always our top priority, so be smart, observe traffic, leave headphones/earbuds at home, and dress appropriately for changing weather.

OFFICIAL COURSE: Runners have the option to run the traditional 4-mile course starting/finishing at Brookfield High School (45 Longmeadow Hill Road, Brookfield, CT 06804). That's great! The course starts in front of Brookfield High School, proceeds north on Long Meadow Hill Road, turns left on Hillandale Road, turns right on Farview Road, turns right on Ironworks Hill Road, and turns right on Long Meadow Hill Road for a flat and fast finish back at Brookfield High School. Start and finish lines are the same, and will be marked throughout the virtual road race timeframe (12/19/20 - 01/01/21). Please note that there will be no restroom facilities available at Brookfield High School, or anywhere along the course.

AWARDS:For this virtual race, awards will be given to the Top 3 finishers overall (M/F) who run the OFFICIAL COURSE and submit their results through the RunSignUp website (GPS verified) between December 19, 2020 and January 1, 2021. No age group awards this year.

OFFICIAL COURSE RECORDS:    Male  John Raneri, 2020, 18:57                     Female   Sue Faber, 1989, 22:17
