Description
So nice, let's do it thrice! The GRR "Run Your Mile" event is back!
May 9th, 2022 is #RunYourMile Day, celebrating the 68th anniversary of Sir Roger Bannister's historic achievement of being the first human to break the 4 minute mile barrier on May 6, 1954. We want to bring #RunYourMile to Glastonbury and create an opportunity to give back to our local community!
Many local establishments depend on consumers to visit them in person as a major portion of their income and sustainability. As COVID-19 has affected all of us, we want to help our fantastic local businesses and hope that you'll join us by signing up for a unique virtual event.
It's simple. Sign up. Run a Mile. WIN!
Each participant who completes a mile before May 20th will be GUARANTEED a gift card to a "surprise" local establishment that has been supportive of GRR and as a way to help support them. We will be acknowledging a few participants along the way for such accomplishments as "fastest mile", "most average mile", and "least rushed mile."
100% of the race entry funds collected will be used to buy gift cards to some of our various local establishments who support GRR and our mission. The gift cards will be redistributed back out to all of those who participate. Gift cards will range in value, with a minimum of $5 and a maximum of up to $100!
The rules are simple:
-Each participant will track their own race (you can run, walk, run/walk!).
-Submit your final result via the Google form – sent to you upon registration – via a photo of your smartwatch, phone app, or even a picture of your treadmill.
-On Thursday June 2, we will be hosting an awards happy hour night to celebrate together and announce our winners of prizes.
-All participants will be notified of their prize by Monday June 6, 2022.
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!!!!
The Glastonbury River Runners are collecting donations for a terrific charity, The HOYT FOUNDATION. For every dollar donated up to $500, GRR will MATCH your contribution! Simply click the "Donate" button during registration to contribute!
The Hoyt Foundation aspires to build the individual character, self-confidence and self-esteem of America’s disabled young people through inclusion in all facets of daily life.
