Bags of Hope CT Virtual 5k

COVID-19 has caused a dramatic hit to non-profit organizations.  Bags of Hope CT has had to rethink many of its events.  We hope you will consider joining us in our first virtual 5k.

Bags of Hope CT mission is provide duffle bags to children in Foster Care, embroidered with their name and filled with age appropriate comfort items (i.e. Pillow Pets, journals, fleece blankets, etc...) Often times children in foster care store their personal belongings in a trash bag. It is the goal of Bags of Hope to replace these trash bags with Duffle bags.  In 2019, Bags of Hope provided over 600 duffle bags to foster children in Connecticut.  This year our goal is to reach 1000 foster children. 

The entry fee to participate is $20. Each participant will track their own race (run, walk, run/walk) and submit their final result via a photo of their smartwatch, phone app, or even a picture of their treadmill. Each participant will also receive an entry to a raffle. Two raffle prizes valued of $100.  All of the race entry funds will be donated to Bags of Hope CT.

New to the virtual race scene?  

Here are some benefits:

You’re a beginner? It’s OK to run the 3.1-mile race one mile at a time, even over a period of several days.

Walking’s more your thing? Great – enjoy the scenery! There’s no time limit, virtual or otherwise. Walk, jog, skip, just cover 3.1 miles and upload your finishing time when complete.

Want some virtual race partners? Challenge your friends, no matter where they live, to enter and run it “with” you.

Worried about race day weather?  Pick your race day. Prefer the cooler weather to humidity, run or walk your perfect race day.

You can run your course at your own speed and start and finish whenever you wish.  Run any course on any day on your own schedule and safely.

Race Amenities include:

Free bib to wear during your run/walk.

Access to Facebook event page, so you can post your selfies when you finish.  A supportive community to help motivate you if needed or ask questions.
