Description
Come walk with us! Join our community of families, friends, and supporters for a fun event celebrating the strengths and talents of kids with learning and attention differences. Kids under 5 are free!
The fun-filled event includes games, crafts, a photo booth, food and refreshments, and much more! The 2-mile Walk along the scenic shorefront of Long Island Sound takes place rain or shine, and provides an opportunity to celebrate these children’s potential while raising funds for the organization’s work empowering parents and as many as one in 5 young people who struggle with these issues.
Join us in-person or participate virtually in the event that “gives everyone touched by LD or ADHD a sense of home and community.”

Smart Walk Event Info
We’re looking forward to seeing you at the Smart Walk for Smart Kids with Learning Disabilities! We’d like to share some tips to make sure the day runs smoothly.
What you need to know:
Check-in will begin at 12:00 pm at the Pavilion at Sherwood Island State Park. Ample parking is available.
The Smart Walk is rain or shine. We’re looking forward to beautiful weather, but it can be breezy along the shore. Water filling stations are available if you’d like to bring a reusable water bottle.
What you can look forward to:
The Smart Walk is full of family fun! Activities included with registration are critter encounters from Stamford Nature Center, bridge building with 3DuxDesign’s Team STEAM, Sasco River Center’s Sensory Stations, kindness crafts with COFFI, a photo booth and lawn games. Glitter tattoos will be available for purchase from Daisy Mae Designs. Don’t miss author Sivan Hong’s reading of her Super Fun Day series at 12:20 pm.
Food on hand will be snacks from Trader Joe’s and sandwiches from Stew Leonard’s. Sweet P Bakery, Jim’s Ice Cream Truck, Kona Ice Truck & Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck (both donating 20% of sales to Smart Kids!) will provide treats for purchase.
The Smart Walk includes Color Fun! We will provide each walker with a white Smart Walk t-shirt. Four color powder stations will be located along the route where walkers can get “splashed” with color. The Color Blaze cornstarch-based powders are easy to clean up and safe for everyone. Want to keep your t-shirt colorful? Follow their instructions for preserving your Color Fun memories. If you’d rather not be splashed, simply walk around the color station. Volunteers will be instructed not to splash those who do not pass through the station.
How you can share the day with friends:
It’s not too late to invite your friends to join you at the Smart Walk! On site registration will be available.
Thank you for being a champion for Smart Kids. Together, we can empower parents, combat stigma, and celebrate these amazing kids!
